|Description:||The Outpatient Therapist is responsible for providing quality individual/group therapy to clients of the center in a timely and responsible manner. The Outpatient Therapist may also be involved in intake duties, consultation, and referral development. Further, duties may include collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor on policies and procedures, program development, and continuous quality improvement measures. The Outpatient Therapist will participate in the interdisciplinary treatment team as well as the peer review process.|
|Duties:||Therapy Related Duties:|
•Conduct ongoing therapy for outpatient clients with psychiatric, alcohol/drug or phase of life problems.
•Conduct individual/group therapy sessions with assigned clients and/or the client’s family.
•Have a working knowledge of the DSM-IV, including familiarity of diagnostic procedures of all mental disorders.
•Maintain and improve professional competency through in-service training and other educational responsibilities.
•Will maintain client confidentiality at all times within the legal framework. Will adhere to the licensing board’s guidelines regarding confidentiality, as well as the agency’s adopted code of ethics.
•Demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to client care.
•Is accepting of individual differences among clients.
•Will keep current in education and research regarding therapeutic strategies.
•Will follow up with all no-shows who have attended three or more sessions, by telephone or individualized letter.
•Will perform on-call duties as agreed upon by Clinical Supervisors and the Executive Director.
•Maintain a working knowledge of all civil involuntary detention procedures.
Case Management Duties:
•Will attend clinical staffing and meetings as scheduled.
•Will formally present cases in clinical staffing as assigned.
•Will maintain accurate and up-to-date client records as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
•Will complete all treatment plans, clinical progress notes, and social assessments in a timely fashion.
•Will ensure that clients are given the opportunity for added/enhances support systems.
•Will involve the client and family in the treatment planning process, as deemed appropriate by the interdisciplinary team.
•Will maintain all trainings necessary as required by the Department of Mental Health to complete job requirements.
•Will maintain all necessary trainings to handle contracts from the Division of Family Services.
•Will provide in-services to staff as deemed necessary by the Clinical Supervisor.
•Will attend in-services and trainings offered on site unless excused by the Clinical Supervisor.
•Interacts with peers in a manner that promotes cohesiveness and support.
•Interacts professionally and appropriate to all agency staff.
•Personal dress and demeanor reflect confidence, positive self-esteem, and overall professionalism.
•Demonstrates a “can do” attitude.
•Is oriented to problem-solving methods when conflicts arise.

•Will conduct intake procedures in both the main office and in out-reach settings, as necessary.
•Will provide crisis intervention services as needed.
•Will provide mobile assessments as needed
•Will provide written reports to referral sources as requested by the Outpatient Director and the referral source.
•Will dialogue with referral sources regarding the progress of their clients, as needed.
•Will attend staffings within the agency’s other psychiatric programs, as necessary and as directed by the Clinical Supervisor, in order to assist in expanding and enhancing the continuum of care for clients in other programs within the agency.
Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor of Executive Director.
|Qualifications:||The Outpatient Therapist will have minimally a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. The Outpatient Therapist will have all necessary course work and meet all requirements to be licensed within the State of Missouri, at minimum be eligible to begin supervision. The position requires that the individual meet the Department of Mental Health’s criteria for qualified mental health professionals.|
